Open cast mining in Hambach
(30.10.2016)By coincidence yesterday we drove on a highway where we suspected an open cast mining area left or right. A fast search on google confirmed our thought and quickly we saw a sign to “Viewing platform Open Cast Mining Hambach“
It all seemed very unspectacular until we reached the top of the small hill and this very large hole opend up before us.
Once I read that the human brain cant estimate depths or highs because our ancestors had to orientate to front or back, left or right mainly – and not up or down. As a comparison you may try to think: The excavators on the ground are about 100m high. Nevertheless too much for my brain.
